Hello Dolly!

School is going SO great! I can't believe it's my 4th week already. Time is just flying by, and there's only 2 weeks left of CORE until I'm out on the floor learning from the best, and then taking appointments on September 24th. 

Isn't she cute? Her name is Margarita. *with an accent*

The first week was full of shampoos, classic styles, and learning the ropes of the school.

Week two was color week! We practiced (again and again and again) with something like conditioner. We did single processes, double processes, highlights, and so on, but all of them were fake. Finally at the end of the week we were able to highlight our dollies hair, the real deal!

We only had enough time to do two panels of highlights, so she didn't get a full head. Once I got home, I had to wash them out right when I got home because I had to head to work, so I didn't get a picture of the finished product, but you'll see it later on in her first haircut.

Week three was Chemical week; we rolled perms, practiced chemical relaxers, and learned to blowdry like professionals. We also learned how to use our Marcel curling irons, which are super fancy and so different from what I'm used to, but so amazing! They work like a dream. 

When we start a style, we only do as much as we can until 4:30, then it's time to go home. As you can see on Margarita's perm, I didn't have time to finish the sides. This is the middle sized rod, there's one bigger and one smaller, Did you know that you have to wrap them all up like curlers, and then there's a solution to put on top which makes the perm? Rolling it can be done without actually perming it. It was neat to learn that, I always thought the rods were what permed it. 

This week is cutting week. We cut a Square One Length this morning. It was so nerve wracking to make that first cut. Margarita's ends were so split and scraggly that we had a hard time during all the previous weeks getting the hair to do what we wanted. When we were rolling the hair in perm rods, we kept loosing the hair because there was no sure end to it. It was so uneven. I'm so glad she has a nice cut now!

After lunch, we worked our way into a triangular graduation cut. We got about half way through when 4:30 rolled around, so we're finishing that cut tomorrow. Then maybe I'll flat iron it so you can see how cute my little Margarita is :)
